Many police departments take on responsibilities for which coordination with public health service organizations is better suited. In fact, cooperation between police and public health organizations is the key to addressing many complex social issues. This issue of Police Chief looks at creative and innovative strategies adopted by police departments to engage in harm-reduction; promote alternatives to arrest and incarceration, and encourage overall safety and well-being.
