This research focuses on Fiji, where gender-based violence rates are among the highest in the world, and examines how policing responses can be strengthened.
Based on interviews with 58 police, government, UN, civil society and justice leaders, the study identifies opportunities for reform in policy, leadership and service delivery. Recommendations include cultural change from the top, expanding Sexual Offence Units to cover domestic violence, strengthening Community Posts, and modernising outdated laws such as the No-Drop Policy.
