Ruth HalkonResearch Manager, The Police Foundation

Ruth is a Research Manager at The Police Foundation. She co-authored the Strategic Review of Policing in England and Wales, and, among other things, has written on policing history, roads policing, the health impact of fraud and the changing relationships between the police and public.

She is an independent adviser on the British Transport Police Rape Review Panel. She joined the Police Foundation from the Metropolitan Police. There she served as a neighbourhood police officer in a busy north London borough, before moving to safeguarding and missing persons.

Prior to joining the police, she worked as a journalist for local, regional and national newspapers and news agencies, where she developed a special interest in criminal justice and policing.

She has a BA in English Literature from the University of Cambridge and an MA in Newspaper Journalism from City University, London.
