GLEPHA has partnered with the European Public Health Association (EUPHA) to contribute to the European Commission’s consultation on the EU Internal Security Strategy. Together, we call for an integrated approach that places public health, prevention, and equity at the core of security planning across Europe.

This joint submission emphasises the need to move beyond traditional enforcement-led models and address the complex realities of today’s security landscape—including the impacts of climate change, misinformation, and social inequality.

Key recommendations include:

  • Embedding public health within the EU’s security framework

  • Supporting community-led resilience and prevention initiatives

  • Developing shared training for law enforcement and public health professionals

  • Promoting ethical data use and transparency

  • Addressing socio-economic inequities as key security vulnerabilities

This work reflects GLEPHA’s ongoing commitment to cross-sector collaboration that strengthens community safety, advances public health, and promotes justice through evidence-based strategies.
